We are looking for you, an ambitious master’s student in chemistry, to support our Home Care Technical Service & Development Team by doing an internship project in new sustainable products for automatic dishwashing formulations for our location Seneffe, Belgium. The department that will welcome you is the Home Care Technical Service & Development Team. With deep market insights and in-depth application expertise, we provide technical support to customers and develop innovative solutions that address current and future customer demands.

You will work on evaluating new ingredients in automatic dishwashing formulation, with a focus on new sustainable ingredients. You will be responsible for proposing a methodology for screening these ingredients in a market-relevant scenario. You will be expected to evaluate the impact different ingredients in a base formulation have on the performance of new sustainable ingredients, in order to determine the best model base for screening of these new ingredients. Once the differences and impacts have been identified, you will use the proposed model base to screen new sustainable ingredients, using analytical tools to understand the mechanism of action of best performing materials to further optimize the formulations and/or materials.

Responsibilities

Propose a strategy, including designing experiments, to achieve the goal of the project.
Formulate automatic dishwashing detergents following safe laboratory practices.
Run simulated performance tests and real application tests in automatic dishwasher.
Evaluate results using the scientific method and prepare reports to ensure proper record keeping.
Qualifications

You are currently studying for a bachelor’s or a master’s degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering preferably with a focus on Formulation, Colloids or Polymer Sciences.
You have a good working knowledge of English. Knowledge of French will be a plus.
You have experience in working in a lab and lab safety is a priority.
You are hands-on, eager to learn and a good listener.
You are able to start between February and April 2024 and for a period of 5-6 months (exact date and duration will be discussed).
